HANDLING YOUR EDITING NEEDS
with Tender Loving Care
Stories are light. Light is precious in a world so dark. Begin at the beginning. Make some light.

Work With Me
First Impression Edit
Send me the first 20 pages of your manuscript and the type of editing you are needing. I'll review these pages for free to see if we would be a good fit.
7-day turnaround — $20 (USD)
Beta Reading
As a beta reader, I will read through your manuscript from the perspective of a typical reader. I will give you my honest reactions to the text, such as what made me laugh, if I cried, the parts that kept my eyes glued to the page, etc. I will also give feedback regarding pacing and any issues with the plot. Once it's published, your book will get a feature on my Instagram and will be reviewed on Goodreads/Amazon/other website of choice.
14 days — $0.003/word (USD)
COPY EDITING
This stage requires a careful read-through of your manuscript to check for errors in style, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. If using a style guide, I will ensure your writing follows what is outlined in the guide and make corrections if necessary. I'll also be responsible for basic fact-checking, including names, numbers, and dates, as well as trademark use/copyrighted material. Lastly, any issues with consistency, clarity, or readability will be addressed in the copy editing phase.
14 days — $0.006/word (USD)
Proofreading
This is the final stage before publishing. Here, I will read through your manuscript for errors in grammar, punctuation, and style. I will also be checking for consistency in style and formatting. If using a style guide, I will check your work against what is outlined in the guide.

ABOUT ME
If you’re a book lover, indie author, or general lover of words, you came to the right place. My name is Jaime, I’m a full-time Elementary Teacher and self-proclaimed “Book Nerd.” When I’m not in my classroom or reading, I’m spending time with my husband and our fur baby, plotting as many trips to Memphis and Graceland as possible, and slowly but surely working on a novel of my own. I enjoy long walks perusing through bookstores and will never turn down an Elvis-related adventure. I enjoy reading from a wide variety of genres, but my favorites are definitely Romance, Historical Fiction, and Thrillers.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, a Master’s degree in Reading, and a Master’s to be a Library and Media Information Specialist.
On average, I read 50+ books a year from diverse genres and authors. I try to be intentional with the books I spend time reading.
I completed Edit Republic’s High-Level Proofreading and Copyediting Pro course and am enrolled in other ER courses to continue growing as an editor and keep my skills fresh.
dear writer...
“The secret to editing your work is simple: You need to become its reader instead of its writer.” — Zadie Smith
It takes a village to get a book published, and I would be honored to be part of your village. It means the world to be entrusted with your work and I am fully committed to helping you on this journey.
Please remember that any criticism your work receives, from me or any other editor, is constructive criticism. I know it is vulnerable to put yourself and your work out there for a stranger to read, and emotions can run high if you maybe don’t receive the feedback you were wanting or expecting. A practice I implement, if not on a time crunch, is to make the effort to explain an editing choice to help you understand where I am coming from.
At the end of the day, it’s your work. You can accept or reject any suggestions or edits as you see fit. I am here to support you on your journey and help make your work the best it can be. When all is said and done, if it’s work you are proud of, then I know I can feel good about the part I played in getting your creation out into the world.
